New Homework:

Hi Y5,

Thank you for a lovely settled start. We've had lots of fun so far and we're really enjoying learning about the Vikings.

This year, there will be some changes to the spelling homework that is set... Instead of a spellings list to learn for a test, we will now be setting words for the children to embed. The children are being asked to put their weekly word list into a sentence to ensure they know the meaning, as well as the correct spelling.

A homework exercise book has been provided. These books should be brought into school with the completed homework so I can see your progress.

This week we have been learning alternatives for the 'ay' sound, such as 'eigh' 'ei' and 'ey'.  We have looked at where each sound comes within a word and spotted patterns.  Have a go at putting these words into a sentence, remembering capital letters, full stops and excellent handwriting:

beige

vein

weigh

eight

they

obey

neighbour

prey

sleigh

grey

I'm excited to see what you come up with. Enjoy!
