Today Year 4 took part in an Anglo- Saxon day! We met an Anglo- Saxon soldier called Ozwald who guided us through the day, providing us with lots of exciting and enriching activities. In the morning sessions, we learned all about the 7 kingdoms of England and we also saw and handled many authentic Anglo- Saxon artefacts and armour and learned many other interesting facts throughout the morning. Oswald was very impressed with our listening skills and the knowledge that we presented! In the afternoon, we took part in an Anglo- Saxon battle, Mercia against Northumbria! It was so exciting! We finished the day with a relaxing story about Beowulf which was really fascinating and a lovely end to our wonderful day.
Our topic question for next half term will be...
What was life like for an Anglo Saxon in the Dark Ages?
