Religious Education

Welcome to the Religious Education page for St Marie's Catholic Primary school.

MISSION STATEMENT AND AIMS

LEARNING THROUGH FAITH, LOVE AND RESPECT

Living at Jesus taught us and as part of God's family, we at St Marie's seek to develop each individual with faith, love and respect for each other.

Religious Education plays a central and vital part of our whole school life. At St Marie's, Religious Education pervades the whole curriculum and is not seen as a separate subject. The beliefs and values studied though our 'Come and See' curriculum inspire and draw together every aspect of life in our school. We believe that all pupils have the right to receive an overall religious education which respects and promotes the child's innate capacity for wonder, awe, reverence and imagination.

The overall aims of Religious Education at St Marie's are:

The comprehensive and systematic study of:

  • the mystery of God
  • the life and teachings of Jesus Christ
  • The teachings of the church
  • the central beliefs that Catholics hold and the basis for them
  • the relationship between faith and life

We aim for all our pupils to (appropriate to their age and capacity) think spiritually, ethically, theologically and show religious commitment in everyday life.
