St Marie’s Pre School

St Marie's Pre-School
There has been Pre-school provision at St Marie’s for over 10 years.
All children from the age of 3 are very welcome and the experienced staff aim to help all children achieve their potential. Structured play activities are carefully planned and prepared so that all children can access the 6 areas of learning in the most appropriate way. Children work individually, in small and large groups with a balance of adult –led and child initiated activities.

The pre school follows the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum based on the following principals

  • Each child is unique and is a competent learner
  • Positive relationships so that children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships
  • The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning
  • Recognising that children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and that all areas of learning are equally important and interconnected.

In preparation for children moving onto school, we endeavour to join in with school activities on a number of occasions, including joint story session, singing, outdoor and social activities eg assemblies, school plays and parties.
